Cool shots Grumpy. I like #1 best.

Excellent shots Inch.

Retro - nice shots but not sure if the top/bottom borders are doing the last pic any justice.

Distance could be a factor but the main thing is how difficult is to focus with it. The previous set had much more light than this one. The mirror lens needs lots of light to perform its best. I guess Im want to become a mirror lens master! LOL! Im keeping an eye out for the Bigmos, but I must be honest, as hard as this mirror lens is the satisfaction when you get a decent photo from it is awesome.

Thanks. I can agree to the awesome bit. That friend I told you about - well he used his Russian lens a while back and won an open competition. So keep at it...

Hyogen, If you are refering to my Samara Beach shot, I used the Canon 10-22. I shot this at 10mm f8. I may have used a litte noise reduction in post (shot in RAW) but don't think there was much noise in original. I find when I use most at 10mm when I use this lens. It is wide!!

thank you :)

Yeah grumpy, that lone tree shot is incredible. Nice concept, great composition, and perfect exposure.

Curious: did you experiment with different compositions and choose this one? I'd be interested in the process.

Thanks for the kind words, gents!

Hyogen, if it was taken with a T2i or of a T2i, feel free to post here.

Grumpy, add on my +1 as well.

P.S. (and maybe a bit O/T) I started fiddling with Microsoft ICE last night. It's a stitch program, and it's free for Windows. It seemed to handle a four (jpg) pic pano stitch way faster than PS5. Also, it can export as layers as a PSD, so you can clean up details in Photoshop yourself.

P.P.S. I'd like to fiddle with the Brenizer method someday...

Man, some awesome images here. Maybe i should start shooting in RAW and then doing a bit of post-processing on mine, maybe they'll at least look half decent in comparison.

ok here it is guys.. let me know what you think about my self made preset for LR
of course youd have i have to adjust it for every other pic but here are some results
the DT preset lol

Well it certainly gives you punchy colors :) On some of the photos I think it is a very effective treatment. On others, I don't think it works as well. You posted a photo a little while back and I complimented you on the punchiness. I think the flowers in the first photo from this recent set also works well when kicked up a notch. But the second two photos... I don't think they needed the treatment. I think you made a great tool that will save you time but the danger lies in its overuse. If you apply this to too many photos then the punchiness loses its effect. That's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. On the other hand, there are some effective artists whose personal style is highly saturated photos so it can be done well. I would still caution against overuse as a general rule.

I think the palm tree shot (in the next post) is excellent.

5am-ish.
T2i and Sigma 17-70.
Still learning the basics :).

Looks good to me. Good composition, good colors, cool silhouette. You might not have much to learn :)

Here from the nest today...Waited about half hour for her to fly...All shot is with canon 1.4x II

huge kudos to your patience and determination. Birding is very demanding in those 2 categories. I really like the symmetry of #3.

+1, this is reliable.
Caught up again but I keep forgetting to check Peter's stuff while I'm home...

One more: What it lacks in sharpness it makes up for in cuteness. I should have wiped that milk off his chin in post though.

Noooooo! Don't get rid of the milk! If I were you I would highlight the milk (through processing)! I also would crop it from 2:3 ratio down to 3:4... and I'd take all of that off of the top of the frame. I think it is another good shot!

More holiday snaps...

The first shot is phenomenal IMO! The third one is good too but a little too familiar to be outstanding. I bet it could sell well but it would have trouble differentiating itself from its competitors.

The colors look about right. Love to see more :)

So its the guy with the camera, right?
Yep...it is...let me act natural...

Ha! Funny titles. Projecting humanity onto animals can be really funny... and your titles certainly fit his body language.
That last photo ( the black bird) is mooning you ;)

Can't wait to see more BIFs... #1's IQ looks great even though it is cropped down!

Nice shot. I like the one of the storm clouds and lighting (you didn't post it here, it's on your Flickr)

thanks Marm...it's funny but I'm finding that my least favorite shots are usually the ones that others seem to like the most and vice versa...hmmm.
