thanks Marm...it's funny but I'm finding that my least favorite shots are usually the ones that others seem to like the most and vice versa...hmmm.

Yup.
If you find yourself pitching artwork to clients, never show them anything you don't want them to buy; they'll always pick the one piece you don't want your name attached to

Distance could be a factor but the main thing is how difficult is to focus with it. The previous set had much more light than this one. The mirror lens needs lots of light to perform its best. I guess Im want to become a mirror lens master! LOL! Im keeping an eye out for the Bigmos, but I must be honest, as hard as this mirror lens is the satisfaction when you get a decent photo from it is awesome.

I hear you. It's often about the journey more than the destination.

I'm the same way with astronomy. I'd much rather hunt down objects using my limited starhopping ability than to use a digital go-to system. Woodworking too (handcut dovetails rather than machine --- but not my kitchen, there were too many drawers!)

The first shot is phenomenal IMO! The third one is good too but a little too familiar to be outstanding. I bet it could sell well but it would have trouble differentiating itself from its competitors.

Thanks Marm, and thanks to DT, bobo & Peter for the compliments.
I'm not really trying to sell anything but I do agree about the last shot. It's a bit 'holiday brochure'.
I included it because I needed a third beach/sea shot to compliment the other two. I tend to post images in sets that all relate to each other. No idea why.
On this occasion I should've used a better shot that had nothing to do with the set!

There's a huuuuge market for that type of shot. It's a very crowded segment, but you could make a living with shots like that.
I don't think you shouldn't post shots like that... it's a good thing to be well-rounded ;) My personal style is to set my work apart from others' work. Sometimes that comes back to bite me because it looks like I tried to be different just for different's sake... and it looks forced. There's a time and a place for every style of shooting.

Yeah with 90% of us reading from the same photography 'rule book' there's bound to be a lot of similarities in style.
Good for you that you try to be different, keep at it I say.
I can't say that I've found my own unique style yet but I'm sure it'll come with time.
I'm in no rush to be honest. Not trying to win any awards here. ;)

I hate rules
Personal style is hard to find. Some people can's put a finger on it even after years of shooting. They know what they like and what they don't like but they don't know what links all of them together.
I'm one of those people; the only common thread I recognize is that they are all relatively offbeat.
Sometimes it is easier for other people to describe your style for you :)

This is probably the best approach... as far as I can tell...

My daughter is involved with cross country and track and is participating in a summer running program. Yesterday they had a 'field trip' to a new trail out at a preserve I've never been to. I volunteered to be one of the drivers as I was more than willing to take my camera and hopefully grab some shots of wildlife. Wound up with a few shots of the kids running too....

Man do I love glass... just bought myself a sigma 85 1.4, can't wait until it arrives. Still staying strong with my T2i though, no major wants to switch to something more "professional" yet. Probably in the future but for now I'm still thrilled.

Cool shots Grumpy. I like #1 best.

Excellent shots Inch.

Retro - nice shots but not sure if the top/bottom borders are doing the last pic any justice.

Yeah grumpy, that lone tree shot is incredible. Nice concept, great composition, and perfect exposure.

Curious: did you experiment with different compositions and choose this one? I'd be interested in the process.

Thanks for the kind words, gents!

Hyogen, if it was taken with a T2i or of a T2i, feel free to post here.

Grumpy, add on my +1 as well.

P.S. (and maybe a bit O/T) I started fiddling with Microsoft ICE last night. It's a stitch program, and it's free for Windows. It seemed to handle a four (jpg) pic pano stitch way faster than PS5. Also, it can export as layers as a PSD, so you can clean up details in Photoshop yourself.

P.P.S. I'd like to fiddle with the Brenizer method someday...

Thank you all for the kind words.

As for the 1st shot, it was a very lucky shot. I shot this through the windows of my wife's car at about 75 MPH on a highway in Pennsylvania. Had a CPL on the 17 -40 l and fired off one shot. Just cropped the bottom off of it due to the blur of the guide rail and other vegetation. Sometimes it's just better to be lucky than good ya know.

Wish I had the finances to buy more lenses like some people here
Especially when I click on some of the "Gear" links in signatures, (man, don't know why i do it), just makes me sad seeing 20 items, almost every one of them costing a lot more than all of my gear combined :)
