Been a busy last few days. Trying to shoot some fall colors over the past wknd and still working on those shots. Monday night I attended an event at the NY Public Library. It was a conversation with Pete Townshend (of The Who for those not in the know!). He gave a reading and talked about his newly published biography, Who I Am. Luckily, he sang a couple of my favorites from Quadrophenia. Even luckier, I had my camera with me! :)

I can't help but to keep looking in here even though I picked up a 5Dc for myself and looking at all the great pictures. For such a good camera, this thing is a pain in the butt to try to sell lol

Hey Russo, how are you liking the upgrade to 5Dc? I've been debating doing the same thing and would love to hear your opinion on it. The only thing that scares me is the LCD. With the type of photography I do(full body portraits), I try REALLY hard to get a perfect picture with my t2i and feel that the 5Dc would be a lot better/easier in terms of bokeh and dof.

Wow, Pete Townshend in the T2i thread. Who would have imagined? That's way cool, jamg.

I can't compete with that, but I did get to spend the evening photographing another event. This time I had to suffer through going to nine different restaurants and sampling/photographing 27 different appetizers and 27 beers. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it. ;)

The conditions sucked though. Just standing around cocktail tables and elbowing the crowds out of the way trying to get a shot. And no flash allowed and virtually no light inside the places, so you had to rely on shooting nearly wide open and using high ISO (too high for the T2i IMO). This meant a lot of color/saturation loss, forced to use a impossibly shallow DOF, and noise. Not terrible by any means, but certainly not ideal. Now I really can't wait to get a 5d3...

So here's a duck confit salad crostini, barbecue shrimp, and Roquefort cheese and green apple.

I love it. The increased field of view is a big plus for me, and the bokeh is great. I can't keep myself from shooting with my 50mm 1.8 because it's just so nice to see. The LCD is definitely a big step backwards, and no live-view might be something you have to get used to, but for me, it's worth the quality of the pictures I've been getting. The build of it is a great step too. The 5Dc is bigger, heavier, and much more solid than the T2i (which I'm a fan of the extra weight). When I say this thing is built like a tank, I mean a BIG TANK. For me, I'm used to the screen and stuff already, so next for me is lenses, and then maybe a 5D2.

In conclusion, screen is a step back, everything else is a step forward. To me it's worth it.

Thanks, Big. Coversation was great. To hear him sing 'Drowned' & 'I'm One' was the cherry on top!

Thanks, Maru. What about Jimmy Page? Saw him on street the following night passing the Ziegfeld Theatre for premiere of new Zep flick. Got a quick shot of him and another Plant. On my flicker if you want to view as they are not artistic at all and don't feel worthy to post.
