So Marubozo, you are finally 'leaving' the T2i? Sad news... I find that very few of us remain 'loyal' (I know it has nothing to do with loyalty, its just a way of saying things) to the T2i. Good luck with the 5DmIII!

Rafa.
oh... ps: Great shot!

Thanks. I wouldn't say I'm leaving, because I don't think I could ever sell it. So I'll keep the T2i as one of my backups, or for those times when having a crop sensor can help get a little more reach. But given I'm looking to go into more serious real estate and food photography, full frame and great high ISO performance is the next logical step.

As Canon 'update' their Rebal every 6 months, no wonder this thread is getting 'slower' every single day. Now I'm wondering how far this thread can go

I think it depends on how often people upgrade their body! I'm real happy with my 550D and I plan to keep it for 3 years (had it one year now). I also don't see the point in upgrading to another crop sensor body, I rather just keeping using this for several years while building up my lens collection then get something like the 6D!!

Maru, I was in no way complaining about your choice... certainly a FF and the mIII at that is the natural choice. Most everyone of the 'original' group have migrated just as you.

I also concur with x_tan that with new two new direct upgrades, people do tend to buy into the new options.

I am of similar mind as Dlee: since the 7D, the 60D, the T3i and, in most respects, the T4i share the exact same IQ, I see no need to upgrade until really new technologies arise (or the FF change is a needed, of course!). But, since I have heavily invested (for my budget at least) in the APS-C format on two very expensive EF-S lenses, I will wait and upgrade to a 70D, or T5i, or whatever is the current model when mine dies that provides me with a better low light ISO noise or better dynamic range (which are the only numbers I am really interested in: I don't need anything higher than 18MP! and I probably would stay away from ultra-high-MP options)

I still believe the T2i can, if used correctly, match the results to any camera out there up to ISO1600 (if destination is 12x8s or smaller... definitely true for WEB sized photos).

But the FF DoF is really a thing to envy :)

Rafa.

Those are COOL noses. Nice imaginative shots. How can you "retire" with shots like these???

I don't post anything in any of the 5D3 threads. Big bunch of snooty/clique type of environment in there. Totally unhelpful too. Asked a question once and not even a reply.

Actually havent shot much, was sick from early Nov to mid Dec (bad flu) and now the weather is not being helpful.

As for glass did not get anything yet, just the same 70-300L and the Sigma 150 OS macro. Will be getting the new 70-40/2.8 II in a short while. Just waiting for prices to come to saner levels.

Excellent Maru.

Actually, I miss the 550D, but mine was so battered and since I was given a good price had to let it go.

But for what it is worth, I still consider this thread "home". :)

I definitely agree with this, a good example that proves this is the Cheap body + Expensive lens vs Expensive body + Cheap lens test that Digitalrev did! The lens has more of a impact on your image quality, high ISO performance is the main attraction of a Full Frame body when it comes to IQ. I used to think that photos produced from a FF body had this certain look to them that looked so much better than images produced on a crop, that was until I got my first L lens. I then realized it was the lens that could really change the look of your images which is why I rather upgrade my lenses first then get a FF body after a few years.

I'm a poor student so I don't' really like the idea of spending $900 on a lens to have to try sell it again once I upgrade to FF, with the lens I bought I plan to keep as long as I can and only upgrade my body when it is really worth it.

True but I'm one of those that the only way ill get rid of both my cameras is when I am told that there is no hope for it. (Dead)
As of now I believe I have the perfect setup in cameras and lenses for what I do.
Canon does what the do and people will do what they do but from my personal POV,
I almost feel bad for those who go from t1i, t2i, t3i, t4i and so on, looking for an "upgrade"
They are selling you the same camera over and over (mostly). This time we will include wipers though. It might perform sligly better then it's predecessor but That's It! Biggest gain for the t4i is that all 9 focus points are all cross type. I think that's cool.
But then again some people don't mind buying the same thing over and over plus they might have the money to do so.

Ill be here for a while :)

Same with me DigitalTuned! Exactly my feelings. The issue is I have mine with about 40K shots now... so I'm 'killing it slowly' :)

I tell you though if they make a t#i with same AF as 7D but all cross type (not sure if they are already), weather sealed along with all they have been slowly "updating" since the t1i, that may be a camera that would catch my attention.

It would be my little monster.. And you know canon can do it.. That's out of the question.
It's just they need to resell their product over and over before they say.. "Hey let's go with the next big thing"

These things remind me of the popular fighting game by capcom back in the day
Street Fighter II
How many versions of that game were released before Sf3 came out.. Lol

They won't weather seal the T#i's, never... they reserve that to the #D, and partially to the ##D, never the ###Ds, that's their scheme and I don't see them changing that. Just as the #D and ##D have the extra control wheel and top LCD which the ###Ds don't get. So you are hoping for a 70D of sorts :)

Rafa.
