After seeing the announcement of D800, what would you really want/need from 5D MKIII?

not going to happen. The poll is to understand what people really expect - more MP or higher ISO/better DR.

Personally, I am super happy with 16, 18 or 21 MP, but would love to get 2, 3 or 4 stops of ISO and better DR.This will open many possibilities for me to achieve better results. More MP will not change anything for me.

Could be possible...maybe not 100% like this, but as a direction...could be what Canon might come with. It will be a decent camera, better than D800.

If they gave it 7D AF and kept everything else the same I'd be all over it at under $3k. Oh, and crop mode would be nice.

AF of no interest to me as an MP-E65 would be glued to the body. Cropabilty and
low light performance at least as good as MK2. 36MP if poss

I think maybe the same sensor as the 1Dx, AF somewhere between 7D and 1Dx but easier to use, ISO 50-51200 max each end, between 6 and 8 fps, dual Digic 5 and priced about the same as I could get from selling my 5month old 7D and 4month old 5D2. Then I'd have to use the 550D that I gave to the wife as backup to my new 5D3. Bring it on!

What would be the super deal for me is this:
1. Better DR
2. 2-3 stops higher ISO
3. More pleasing shutter release sound (I hate the pone on 5D MKII)
4. Better viewfinder for MF lenses

I would like to see around 24 to 28 MP. I think the technology has improved enough that the IQ could still best the existing cameras, with good ISO and DR. Disclaimer: I shoot mainly landscapes, have never had my camera above ISO 400 except for experiments, and on my 7D, I rarely use the high speed (but do use the lower FPS frequently). And no frickin articulated screen.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

electronic level, like in the 7D. I use it a lot. Do something with the banding problem. NR at higher ISO would be nice, but not critical.

7D style Auto Focus.
Slightly higher fps. 6 or 7.
7D grip that is larger and feels better in hand.
Viewfinder grid display.
Basically blend the 7D feature set into the full frame of the 5D mark II.
