I would like to see
22-24mp
7D-like AF, with orientation-linked AF point
at least 2 stop better ISO
Dedicated video button
Dual card, or at least ability to write JPEG/RAW into separate directory

Bottom line if Canon put an FF sensor on the 7D body, I'll be all over it

Agreed! However I think I would prefer the weather sealing of the 5D2 over the included flash of the 7D. But aside from that, I agree with your list.

The weathersealing of the 7D is supposedly at least as good as that on the 5D2. Somehow, the built-in flash doesn't seem to detract from that. Has there been any evidence shown that the 7D is worse in this regard than the 5D2?

There was a post a few weeks ago, about a 7D user getting caught in the rain, and his camera not doing well at all. The top lcd filled up with water.

Here is a quick google search result:

Now, I have no idea how a 5D2 would have faired in the same condition, but it is my understanding that is has more weather sealing then the 7D.

Looks like I am wrong....

"In keeping with its XD designation, the 7D shares the same extensively-sealed magnesium construction as the 5D Mark II. Canon again claims the same degree of moisture and dust resilience as the EOS-1N pro-level film SLR from the 1990s."

I don't understand why some of you guys don't want higher MP if you can get that as well as good ISO performance and good DR. I think you underestimate sensor technology improvement in that it can improve and deliver both. The number one issue with the 5Dii that can be improved is FOCUS. It is really not up to the standards of cameras much lower on the ladder. Increased frame rates would be nice, but to be honest that is only really useful if you have improved focus. If the 5diii simply has improved focus and a couple of extra ISO stop improvement, that would trigger a buy response from me. The other additions would simply be extra nice features that come along.

I am not against more MP, it's just not high on my list. the MP I get now with the Mk II is more then enough for me.

Better AF, higher clean ISO, and faster FPS come way above more MP.

Saying I am against it, would be like me owning a car with a top speed of 210mph, and then asking why I am against fast cares, because I want the next version of it to have better breaking and handling, before the manufacturer increases the top speed. :)

The rumored specs look pretty good to me. Better high ISO and DR performance on top of that are really all the camera needs, IMO. I'd take more MP, but not at the cost of a bit more speed, AF, or the aforementioned attributes.
