A friend and I braved the weather and snowshoed up to Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain National Park last Saturday. The lake has a couple of very interesting winter characteristics: the water continuously drains from the lake so a couple months after the lake freezes the ice falls since it can't support its own weight. The other is that the ice is cyan blue in color which really stands out in certain light, especially when an edge is visible.
As always any comments or suggestions are always encouraged.
