I have a pair of Elinchrom 500's and one of them is acting up. It will fire sometimes and other times just make a little "snap" sound. I use the Elinchrom's EL-Skyport remote to fire the strobes but it even makes the "snap" noise if I push the test button directly on the strobe (the other strobe I've got fires fine) so I definitely don't think its the remote. I've had these for about 1.5 years with light usage doing product photography and they've worked flawlessly until now.

Any idea what it could be?

Thanks in advance

Micah

About 75% of the time the strobe needs to fire it makes the "snap" noise. There seems to be no consistency in what makes it fire or not.

After a little more online research I found that it was the flash bulb it's self. I swapped it out with my other strobes bulb and the fixture worked fine.

So if anyone else has the same problem, it's probably the flash bulb.
