I haven't been walking around with my camera lately. Here's one from a while ago.

The wood in the water are actually pilings from old docks,piers or other structures. Haven't been there in quite a while but they could be found all up and down the
Hudson and East rivers. Around 1965 I took a 15 foot runabout down from City Island down around Manhattan pretty much an all day excursion. From City Island up the
East and Harlem rivers then down the Hudson around the Battery up the East river and back to City Island. The only hazard as I remember was avoiding timbers in the
Hudson that had broken away from these rotting structures. Love this thread and photos like the one of the pilings.

If you walk around a bit, you can also get some interesting views of Manhattan from Brooklyn. The first was taken walking up Old Fulton Street from the High Street subway station. The second was from the mapped location at Brooklyn Bridge Park. These were from June 2015.
