Shooting a wedding in a gymnasium, what L lens should I rent?

I was originally leaning towards the 70-200L 2.8 if the wedding was in low light, but luckily the reception AND the ceremony will be at a large hall that doubles as the church's gymnasium and social room. The lighting, I'm told, will be bright.

With that said, would you suggest a 24-70L or a 70-200L? The client does want a few aisle shots, although I'm only going to be see the venue on friday. Did I mention the wedding is on Saturday?

Both would be nice. And another body. And a better flash.

Exactly.

I'm guessing this is a paid job?

Got a 580ex for extra powah. Might be able to borrow a crappy Rebel XTi but besides that I'm stuck with what I have.

The 24 to 70 is a great lens. You could probably shoot the whole wedding with it. Nice to have the 70 to 200 too:)

Yeah I mean, I hate to be THAT guy, but it is a paid gig. Her nephew's my friend, and I suggested they go with a legit protographer when they asked me to do it (even referred them to a guy I met) but they can't afford it or dont want to bother. They never found anyone, so I was offered the gig again.

Lens is less important than lighting. I'd use two off camera radio triggered flashes, bounced off the ceiling if possible otherwise direct, supplemented by on camera flash. With that use whatever lens that suits where you need to stand.

I'm sure you will do fine. Keep it simple. You have what it takes to get the job done equipment wise.
I like the rouge flash benders too. The 24 to 70 would be nice for you to have. The 50 1.8 on a reble would be a nice back up to.

Good luck!!
