Rolling the Pelican?

I've got a 1510 loaded with lenses. For some reason, I feel wary rolling it down bumpy brick sidewalks, curbs, and the like. But there's this other side of me that says that it's got wheels for a reason. I use the padded dividers. Do you think these are good enough to absorb the shock from rolling over rough terrain? Should I worry about damage to the lenses?

I have 1620 loaded with sensitive electronic test equipment and tools for work. It bounces around in the back of my car and I roll it everywhere. Over curbs, stairs, bumps. It gets tossed around like it was meant to be. You bought a Pelican for a reason... use it. Your lenses can deal with more abuse than you think, especially when they are pakced in an indistructible padded case.

It's absolutely fine to roll around! Even if it's on a rough brick sidewalk and off the curb. Flying with Fish (a POTN regular and consummate world traveller) even threw his Pelican off a second floor balcony with all of his photo gear inside...and everything came out fine. Not that I recommend that anyone do this, but it does show just how well a Pelican case will protect your gear.

Good to know! No longer will I be gently placing my 1624 back in the closet. Instead I will chuck it from across the room to the closet

Thanks, yeah I've seen those. Pretty much what convinced me to get one :)

But yeah, you're all correct, the gear is already pretty tough as nails and then packed in a padded, waterproof, crushproof case there's really nothing to worry about. Plus, I have insurance, so there's really nothing I should be worried about.

I wrap each lens and body in a Tenba Messenger wrap before I put it in the padded dividers. I really don't think it's overkill, and I now don't worry about wheeling it anywhere.
