Just curious if any of you ever see GREAT buys on carbon fiber tripods such as the
Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 or the PRO3?

As a benchmark, the standard Amazon price on the 04 is $300.
So obviously a deal would be.......less.

LOL

I see stuff posted about sales at Adorama and BHP.

Thanks much!

Karl

I just bought a RocketFish CF tripod, with a metal head, for $70 (Normally around $100-150, but got this on eBay) Its cheap, but extremely more rugged than what I have.

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

I bought a Manfrotto 055XPROB a ways back but it is alum and too heavy to strap on to my backpack.
I saw the CF one I mentioned above at our local Camera shop and liked the size and weight.
I know $300 is not a lot for a CF tripod but I would love a killer deal on something like that.

I paid $237 ($277 - $40 rebate) for Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 through Amazon in last October.

Manfrotto 498RC2 Ball Head was for $94 ($104 - $10 rebate).

I'm also in the market for a new carbon fiber tripod. My circa 1980s aluminum tripod is too heavy to lug around anymore - time for me to upgrade.

Not sure if this meets what you might be looking for in level of quality / stability / etc., but I just read this blog post on budget carbon fiber tripods.

Feisol have the 3301 for about $280 and is probably better than the 190CX--- in functionality.

Thanks

Manfrotto had rebates all through this past fall until Jan 15.

The deal from B&H sounds good for Vanguard. Also Costco recently had a carbon tripod w/head on sale.

You may want to take a hard look at the Sirui brand. I got one of their ball heads a couple of weeks ago, and I am still gushing over my great buy. They sell tripod and ballhead combos as well. I got the
K-30X head, and I could not be happier. Spent a little over a hundred bucks (USA)
