Ok so not sure where to go with this..
i finally bought a printer... a Canon Pixma ip100. Nice and small... prints fast.. did a 8x10 photo on high quality in 3-4 minutes..

now my issue though... maybe paper related.. so

anyone use a Canon printer and get a magenta tone? what settings seem to fix this?

I didnt scan a photo to show it as I should have...
the paper is junk.. flat out.. going to go look at getting paper today..

what paper is recommended for these printers?
the paper i have is Royal Brites 30154

as seen at this link others rate the paper poor... and with the same issue.. one person said they contacted the print media company and they got the settings from them and now it is good..
well i have an email into them and will call them at lunch...

I have two Canon printers, but not that one.

Unless you want to do a lot of fussing, print with the paper that is recommended in the printer manual. It will be one (or perhaps several) of Canon's own papers. To print with other papers will require both appropriate ICC profiles and learning how to control color from software. In general, paper manufacturers don't provide ICC profiles for printers that inexpensive, so using papers other than the recommended ones is likely to be a real pain in the rear.

There is one other relatively inexpensive paper vendor, inkpress, that claims that their papers will work with Canon printers without additional ICCs. I had quite good luck using their inexpensive luster paper (http://www.inkpresspaper.com/profiles.asp?PaperID=40 (external link)) on a Canon MP970, which is also inexpensive enough that most vendors don't provide profiles.

^^^ Thank you..
yes there tech support wasnt helpful at all either...

they gave me an xls sheet that shows nothing really.. but photo paper.. to use photo paper and high quality...DUHHHHH

i guess ill go through the manual and see what paper is recommended and also the paper you have in the link..

my goal of why i bought this printer.. is if I want to do printing in an area where there is no electric.. and no cars are allowed.. so i didnt buy the battery for this printer yet...
also the ink was very inexpensive (let alone a nice refill kit can be had)...
