Hi,

I am ordering Acratech Ultimate Ballhead with QR clamp and detent pin option. My question is do I also need to order the seperate quick release clamp.

I am odering the camera plate for my 1D MKII and the 2 inch lens plate for my 70-200 EF zoom lens.

Any Acratech Ultimate Ballhead owners I could really use your input.

Thanks

Jim

JX -- wise choice, I'm very fond of my acratech.

no, you don't need a separate QR clamp, it comes with the ballhead (that's the part that the detent pin sits in).

if you plan to use a monopod, you might want to buy a second QR clamp to mount on that, so that you can just leave the plates on the camera and lens permanently. Then, your tripod will have a QR and your monopod will have the same QR.

most QR plates come in 3/8 screw size. you'll need a small adapter.

For my monopod I bought >>>this<<< (external link) QR clamp from kirk.

love my acratech. paired with the gitzo explorer it's a wonderful combo.
