I have it. A great lens, very sharp. I used it on my trip to Costa Rica shooting birds and monkeys. Could not be happier, and considering the price, speed, and construction - way better than the 55-250 that I used to have.

It has been shipped...

Hanging around, cracking my knuckles and pacing...

I bought a Tamron MC4 1.4X TC for use with my Tamron 70-300 VC and the few pictures I have had a chance to try the pair with have turned out surprisingly good. On a relatively bright day I get AF 90% or more of the time at 300mm. Just need to retry AF and it will always work for me. All test picture so far have been hand held - want to give it a real test tripod mounted.Bought my TC from KEH for about $60 shipped and it was in almost perfect condition.

Me too, I find if I back it off from 300mm just slightly sharpness is really good, it doesn't report the correct focal length in the Exif data but who cares for the 50 quid I payed for the TC.

Guys,

I've never used a TC. I usually use my tele for portraits so I have enough reach. But I'm curious to try with a cheap 3-rd party TC. Is there anything in particular to watch out for when ordering one ?

This one is supposed to be the best one for the money, I got my Tamron one from Ebay for £50, older model but made by Kenko anyway,

Well, as it stands now, I am waiting for the return shipping label from the vendor. The copy I got simply won't take photos in Portrait orientation :(. Since they don't have another in stock and won't for about 2 weeks I am back on the market, and this time seriously considering just getting a 55-250 and be done with it. If I was using Tele lenses a lot I'd try another copy, but I am not sure that with my shooting style I need the aggravation of playing the lottery. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with a brand new lens, and I've used other 3rd party lenses before.

This can happen with any brand of lens. I guess I should not play the Canon Lottery as I have had to return two Canon lenses in the past????

Well, I have the new lens but, of course, no time to go out and use it until next week, at earliest. Maybe not until the weekend after next.
