Yep. I've owned both lenses concurrently as well and that was my conclusion. You can see the results here:

Wow, the images in that review really show the 15-85 being drastically lower on the scale of sharpness, some of the subjects even look blurry, even when they are in focus.

The 15-85 is weak in the edges/corners at wide angle. I think that extra 2mm on the wide end was too far. I'd rather see a 17-85 or a 15-60.

Pretty sharp IMO. Best I could upload on here given the file limit.

Taken from Lightroom with default settings

EDIT: 100% crop. Oh and it looks slightly better than this, not sure why it looks so poorly attached to here. It's supposed to be a decent amount sharper.

Seriously people that thinks the cheap UWA L for ff is better than the 15-85 on crop are out of their mind;)

Apart from the slightly better build and the red ring, it has nothing on the 15-85.

Not to mention the 15-85 is known for "lens creep" which is inexcusable for a $700 lens.

How long have you had your 24-105 then? I love mine but after two years with it, it has started creeping pretty badly. Do a search on 24-105 lens creep and you will find it is pretty common with it.

I would suggest sigma 17-50 2.8 OS. Will perform better on crop while giving some added reach.
