Great shots Ken! I've never seen this bird before, and you captured them very well! Excellent work!
Thanks. Hope you get to see one sometime.

Lovely shots, my favourite family of birds!
Thanks. They're certainly high on my list.
Thanks.

Looks like a bird that blends really well in its surroundings, so well spotted! And very nice shots too.
Thanks. Levina They do blend in with the rocks.
You're welcome, and thanks for the comment.

Dippers are amazing birds Ken, and you did extremely well in getting them to sit still long enough for some lovely captures.
The one swimming is my favorite as I'm sure that's tough to catch. The others are simply grand portraits. Very well done!
Thanks for the comments. They do move quick and this spot was up in the trees with limited light so I was lucky to get anything keepers at all.

You picked up some great detail on a perfectly "camoed" bird for his surrounding and BG, excellent shots... each one is not only beautiful but interesting.

Thanks Dave. I was happy to get these but disappointed that I didn't get a good crisp one with its head in the water.

As you say, these birds are amazing. My wife and I observed one in the Olympic National Park a few years ago. There ability to go underwater in a stream to get grubs is really cool.
Nice images, great detail.
Thanks. I'm lucky I don't have to go far to find them.
Thanks.

A bird that didn't get posted enough on POTN! Thanks for sharing these excellent captures Ken.

Mind share what the location is?
Thanks. These were taken in Donner Memorial State Park in Truckee, CA on the local Audubon Society's annual Dipper Day trip. Saw several others in better light on the Truckee River in Reno, but they weren't nearly as close as the pair on Donner Creek.
