   I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought that this thread would be a better place to post it than starting a new one.

Ray Hanna, founder of The OFMC @ Duxford and pilot of Spitfire MH434 passed away last week at his home in Switzerland. In my humble opinion, Ray was the best recognised pilot on the warbird scene in the UK, and one of the (if not the) best display pilots I have ever seen. Able to capture the attention of an entire airshow crowd with his fabulous skills. He will, I'm sure be sorely lost by everyone who knew him.

There is a thread on PPRUNE with tributes to him.

Rest In Peace Ray.

(Mods) Sorry for the link but I thought that it was justified for the topic.

PS Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I thought that with the beautiful pictures of Spitfires on here, It would be a fitting place to post.

Dan

What sad news!
I had the honour of meeting Ray at Flying Legends 2002; I got VIP tickets for the Breitling tent for my 40th. That day Ray was flying the P-40 as part of the Breitling flyers; my 5 year old son was impressed by the sharks mouth painted on the nose of the bird and decided to find out who the pilot was! He spent a few minutes chatting to Ray before we realised what he was up to. Ray brought him over to us and remarked upon the charm of my son. He left us with a signed programme, before taking to the air again for the Flying Legends "Balbo".

RIP Ray, and thank you.

This is a short Video of Ray in action. Please forgive the expletives used by the man on the ground; you will understand why! http://alexisparkinn.com …hmygodSpitfire%20pass.wmv (external link)

I have been playing with/learning more about photoshop and have tried a different edit of one of my previous shots. What do you all think, better or worse.

Thanks

Wardie
