hey guys...just a word of warning....

I finished charging my battery for my 7D , and Instead of removing the battery out of the charger , I just pulled the charger out of the wallplug.

I then attempted to tuck the plug of the charger back into its housing....so I pushed the plug in and as I did that I got a massive shock!....droped my battery in the proccess along with the charger:(

so just be carefull....

sounds like there is a bad diode in your charger, return to canon.

That would have never happened if it was a 5Dmk2 charger...

I've done that with both the charger for my T1i and now the 60D and never gotten a shock. Sounds like something is faulty.

" My charger Electrocuted me!! "

I always remove the battery first, then unplug the charger. I've never been shocked.

But it is amazing that you were electrocuted, lucky for you there was someone around to bring you back to life!

Did it discharge your battery when you got a shock, sounds like something is amiss in your charger, I'd always pull the plug out with my charger so wouldn't have a problem, and I don't fancy finding out either. I'm in the UK so we have 240V system and never really liked the 7D charger, I always use my 5D2 charger anyway as I can put it on my desk to change the batteries.

Well, I'm glad you survived. The title of the thread made me think otherwise.

If you were electrocuted, you wouldn't be typing.

You were shocked.

I always assume that there may be some left over charge somewhere...I normally use the rug or the wall to tuck the prongs back. I'm not sure if I read somewhere or not about people getting shocked after touching plugs that were just unplugged.

I only take the battery out after I unplug the charger from the wall...just in case I accidentally stick my fingers in there while it's still plugged into the wall...hey, it could happen.

for what it's worth it could be a number of things. For all you know it's just static electricity and not the charger itself.

I agree with everyone. The title is misleading. It's DC voltage and low amperage. I doubt it could result a fatality. my two cents.

I never thought that would happen. I usually remove the battery before I remove the charger from the outlet anyway.
