EDIT: meant to post in sports forum... could a mod move this for me? thanks.

Had a full day of swimming and a baseball double header. I had only shot a scrimmage before this, so this is all new to me. I found infield action very difficult to get, but that may be due to my limited knowledge/anticipation and experience of the game. Anyway, C&C is appreciated. I used the university's noink equipment...D3s, 200-400mm, 75-300. Excuse my lazy watermarking.

thanks! I give some credit to the gear... D3s/200-400 f4 is a spectacular combo.

I just put the lens as close to the netting as possible and shot wide open (f4 in this case). Putting the fence/netting behind the minimum focusing distance plus the narrow depth of field should make it nearly invisible. Also try to aim through a hole of the fence.

You don't even have to be right up next to it. Just close enough so that it pulls focus through the net and you're good.

Nice set. The swing in #2 looks like that ball wasn't coming back!

Shooting baseball IS difficult because you rarely know what is going to happen. The games I shot the focus was on getting hitters and pitchers. Some of my best shots came during between inning warmups. Easy to catch the infielders in the act of fielding and throwing.

Other than that, a pickoff here or a steal there is about all you can really anticipate in a baseball game. Perhaps a bunt or two as you nicely captured.
