IMO, I doubt it....but I would imagine that it depends a lot upon your needs and wants. I have the MkI and have had it for years now. It's made me a lot of money and I guess that it still holds plenty of potential to make a lot more money. I'm sure that the MkII will be a better lens overall (but only by a small margin I'm guessing) but I must approach it from a business perspective......and I doubt that the MkII will be able to sell enough additional photos beyond the MkI to make it good upgrade decision. That said, my main concerns are my business and profits (my living is my photography).....yours may be something completely different. :)

Big plus one to the above post I bet in a print you would be very hard pressed to see any difference at all. It is business and I get what I need not what I want.

We don't know how it will perform yet so we can't really say if it's worth it. I remember most the comments about the 70-200 2.8 II sounded similar. Now they are buying them by the trainload. I do agree with the comments above up to a point, their version 1 lenses will continue to be the great workhorses they are, but I can't deny canon's newfound prowess for building amazing zoom lenses. I have a feeling optically this will be the best one yet. I would recommend buying a version 1 now. You won't lose much if you decide to sell and upgrade later, especially if you buy used. With the huge price diff between them I don't think the version 1 will lose any value when the new one finaly hit the shelves.
