Hey all,

I'll be going to Hong Kong in a bit and plan to pick up a few camera supplies (mainly an 85 f/1.8 and Speedlite 430 EX, possibly a proper tripod too). I'm also considering an UWA lens - the widest I can go with my current setup is 24 mm on my 24-70 L. I'm shooting on a 5D2 by the way.

I don't need an UWA lens, I'm just interested in trying it out, so I'm not going to throw buckets of cash at this. What's a good, cheap, easy to find lens 16 mm or wider (no fisheyes though please)? I expect I'll use it mostly for landscapes so I can live without AF capability. I've seen the 14mm Samyang get recommended here; other options seem to include the Tamron 10-24, Tokina 12-24, Sigma 10-20 (both of them), and a number of third-party primes. Any advice?

Fuji X-T4, 18-55 and 55-200 zooms, Samyang 12

The siggy 10/20 wont work on FF,the siggy 12-24(I think thats the one) does and is W I DE ,and the obvious candidates canon 17/40 or 16/35 depending on how much you want to spend

The lenses you list are APS-C lenses. As stated the Sigma 12-24 is FF compatible though.

The Samyang is quite sharp and very wide, a very good bang-for-the-buck UWA lens. I used it for a recent trip to Mongolia on my 5D2 and had good results. I didn't use it during my stopover at HK though.

My one qualm with it was the massive mustache distortion it displayed. It can be easily corrected with a downloaded LR profile; didn't really bother me that much as I'm not a landscape fanatic, but it is quite noticeable.

I don't own the lens anymore (24mm on my 24-70 is usually wide enough for me), but I would recommend it to any FF user who is looking for a budget UWA alternative.

If 14mm is wide enough for you, and you shoot raw, there's no better option than the Samyang 14.

Also consider the Tokina 12-24F4 for a crop, if that is what you have.
