Some more looks at Old St. Augustine. Testing the G1X at 800 and 1600 ISO. Seems to hold up fairly well. Still surprised out how a tiny camera can capture an image. Still testing...

Sun Devil,

These are very nice portraits. Did you use the flash on your G1X or an external one on the hot shoe?

Trip to Hodge Close this evening which is a disused 200 year slate quarry taken back by nature. Its famous for the Hodge Close Skull under a certain lighting condition the rock face relects into the water to form a skull image.

Am I seeing the eye sockets on the last two photos Judder? Love the color on the G1X. What was your focal lengths Judder?

Thanks for sharing.

First 2 shots were at 35mm last shot was about 85mm had to exposure bracket for the rock shots due to the variation in light.I took my 5d down there with me and managed the skull shot but the water surface wasn,t giving off a strong reflection......this image is on my flickr link. It was a bit dangerous down there as all the slate rocks are unstable so didn't hang around too long.

Just made a 13" by 19" print from my fish wall mural I posted 3 days ago from my G1X. I chose Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper on my Epson R3000. Always run a small test print first.

To my surprise, the artist had a paint bleed from the blue fish onto the green sea grass. Had to use the cloning/spot healing brushes to blend it out in Ps/CS6. The IQ from the G1X is freaking unbelievable IMHO. Can't believe it.

The print from this camera is blowing me away. Love both my Canon 5D Mk II and 7D but this camera is very special. Like the little brother who excels in sports. Please don't think I'm saying you can use the G1X for sports. It slows you down like Judder reported. That's not a bad thing IMHO.

Have a great day guys...

Yes, there is an innate clarity to the G1X sensor and lens that make it appear to resolve beyond it's specifications.

Thanks Nic. You have a great eye and understanding of photography. I like having a smaller camera with me at all times now.

Have a great week.

Thanks, Charlie. Moving from my former DSLR setup (a 50D and 500D back then in my case) to Mirrorless ILCs and the G1X had a very positive effect on the way I approached photography too.

Great shots everyone! I am also enjoying having a camera with me more often. There are some limitations on the G1X such as bracketing in AV mode with a maximum shutter speed of 1 second that I was not aware of until now. I was reading about CHDK but I am not sure I understand how bracketing would work if installed? I also wonder why Canon would not make a fix for some of the limitations?
