Dell displays?

I am in the market for a new display and am looking at the

Dell UltraSharp U2711 69 cm (27'')

Anyone got any experience with them? Anything better for the price out there?

i have one and it's quite nice. wait for it to be the dell deal of the day which is usually around 30% off and then see if there's a 10% off coupon floating around the net somewhere. that's how i got mine for a great price

In Europe I am not sure Dell do this but their price is 920€...I can buy it at a 3rd party seller for 520 !!

You should enjoy it. I have a Dell 30" widescreen and love it. Great displays if you don't get the lowest end options.

The U2711 is great. Much better than the U2410, though at twice the price it should be.

I have had the u2410 for about 18 months and just bought a u2711 only last week - I agree with the previous comments that the 2711 beats the 2410 but both are first class monitors.

best value for money. Same display as in Apple's Thunderbolt - but God bless it not glossy as Apple.

Dell 2410, 2711 and 3011 sucks, mediocre black level that looks more like gray, worst AG coating of all H-IPS/S-IPS panels, uniformity is also quite poor.

If you want the best bang for the buck and can live with 24" then get the Dell U2412M. AG coating virtually invisible from >1ft away, black level and contrast is significantly better than the 2410/2711/3011(also better than my NEC PA271W!), check out review at tftcentral and at Hardforum. I bought one for my 2nd workstation, it is as good as my $1439 NEC PA271W-SV if you don't need wide gamut.

A quite from the TFTCentral review referenced above :

"Overall there are some quite distinct differences between the two models. The U2412M is certainly more readily accessible to the general casual user with a lower price point, normal sRGB colour space and decent set of features and functions. It's price point should attract a lot of interest and the screen still maintains the 'feel' of a Dell UltraSharp screen. Performance is overall very good and in some areas it out-performs the U2410. The U2410 still has its place though, for those wanting a screen more for graphics work and colour critical applications but without wanting to go all out on a professional grade screen like an Eizo or NEC etc. People who want some of the extra bells and whistles and support of a wider colour space will still want to look at the older U2410 instead of the newer U2412M."

We have all 3 dells in the house, the 2412 is nice, but the 2711 and 2410 are better.
