From infinity to minimum (and back) the Canon is a bit faster. The advantage of ring-USM vs. micro-HSM. Also, the Canon has full-time manual focus whilst the Sigma does not.

what do u mean by it doesn't have full-time manual

When the lens is set to autofocus you cannot override its focus lock by turning the focus ring. With the Canon you can. It's nice but not something I use very often.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

The Sigma 17-50 OS HSM is an absolutely stunning lens. I bought it about 7 months ago and it has been glued to my camera ever since. I can't recommend it enough.

As others have stated, this lens is a real gem. I had very high expectations of this lens after the purchase of the Sigma 70-200 OS; not once have I found myself saying I sure wish I had spent another $400 for the Canon.
