but about the feature AEB of the 5d mark2

i wanted to take 3 shots for an hdr

i set up the camera in burst mode , and AEB to -2 0 +2

so the camera should take 3 shots automatically

but i found out that in the darkness , night , it does not
i had to press the shutter 3 times to take 3 shots -2 , 0 and +2
and the shutter speed was about 5 seconds , max 15 seconds

is normal?
i have the last official firmware

thanks a lot to everyone

cheers

I always have to press the shutter button 3 times unless I'm in LV. Use LV with a 2s delay if you don't have a remote release. There may be another setting to get it to do all 3 with the shutter button.

I know on my 7D if I set it to self timer shot it'll take 3 shots back to back in AEB with just one shutter button press. You may want to try that, I'm not sure if it works on the 5D, but I recall it working the same on the 10D.

Magic Lantern also has a lot of improvements for exposure bracketing. I think you can take more then 3 shots, and it does the sequence for you. All you do is fire the shutter once for the first shot, and it takes the rest.

Yes, that works on the 5D, that's how I shoot bracketed exposures at night.

Just remember to count the mirror clacks ;) The last exposure is the longest one and if it is 30 seconds you may think it has finished, move the camera then hear the shutter close and the mirror drop back down.

Hmm, it may be my setup then because the 5DII seemed to work differently than the T1i in this regard. It may be the exact combination of shutter vs. remote vs. timer used.

To meter in complete darkness, you may use bulb ramping from Magic Lantern. It will fire a few test shots (2-5 shots), and after that it will get it properly metered (even for 10-minute exposures).

Also, bracketing goes past 30 seconds without problems.

No, it doesn't. For 400D, there is 400plus: http://code.google.com/p/400plus/ (external link)
