I think you are confusing sharpness and light falloff at f/4. The f/4 IS definitely has more light falloff wideopen (dimmer in the corners) and is ever so slightly less sharp at the extreme corners. The light falloff is really easy to correct in post.

By being "ever so slightly less sharp" it makes it NOT the sharpest 70-200 at f4 Canon makes even at 200mm... the MKII still wins... I am not confusing anything. I agree the difference is slight, but the difference is definitely there, you can compare to all 3 copies of the MKII the digital picture has on file.

Aside from the light falloff and slightly less sharp, the f4 IS also has slightly more distortion than the MKII.

Further more the MKII beats the f4 IS in the extreme corner even at f2.8

Sounds about right, but I'm not 100% sure of the issues whereupon he got a "time-out". ;)

No clue... I'd want to try to get a seat at the bar, Which means ill be fairly close...

The 28mm is probubly more practical.. i can always grab both and chuck them in my bag easily enough

The SLIGHT differences you are calling on are so slight they could be ID'd as resulting from simple sample variation.

Go look at the FF (5D) results of the two at SLRgear.com. The 4L IS is slightly BETTER all around compared to the 2.8L IS II.

I don't read the digital picture's reviews very often.

Uh yeah. But I hadn't been to the dentist in 12 years. So now I'm paying for it. I had the first root canal when I was young. Then I got my second one in 2008. I got my third one in 2011. Now I'm getting a fourth one to create an anchor for a bridge.

My wife brushes her teeth like 5 times a day. She had two root canals 3 years ago. Its not just about brushing.

Wow, yeah was it just a ton of plaque buildup?

To be honest I really with I could just have fake teeth.. real teeth are a hassle. Fake ones can be replaced. ;)
