There is an interesting take on all of this and it has a lot to do with the rise of the digital age. The education system has remained mostly analogue and has not kept up with the times. To your point rise of tv channels with 100's of channels, advanced video games, ipods/ipads etc provide such interactive channels that to ask a kid to sit down in front of a dated book and listen to a teachers can seem as old as a dinosaur. The quick inclination is that the child suffers from ADHD because they cant focus and are bored by the medium in which the education is being delivered. But who can blame them? -Omar- Flickr
