First ball game today, I've never shot Softball or Baseball; leave some feedback.

Replaced 6.

Take these tips with a grain of salt. I am not a pro sports shooter, but I think you can improve on your images.

1. I think this shot only works with more frames blended in. With only 3 or 4, it just looks like a blur. Maybe try 7-10 frames blended to get the effect you are going for.

2. There is a lot of noise in this one and there is not a lot of action going on. Next time, wait another second for her to release the ball. It's all about timing. Maybe add some noise reduction and increase the blacks a little.

3. This would be a good individual shot for that player, but not a ton of action going on. The harsh sun kinda hurts the IQ too.

4. This isn't a terrible shot but it's a lot like #2. A few seconds faster and it would have been solid. Try to always get the ball on the bat.

5. This is kinda a boring shot. If the catcher was reaching back to tag it would be a lot better.

6. See #4.

7. This is awkward. If one wasn't very familiar with softball, they wouldn't know what was going on.

8. Has an awkward crop, but still a good action shot for the individual.

Try to vary your shooting position around the baseball field. All of your shots look like they come from the same spot on the field. Keep at it and continue to practice.

That first one was pretty experimental, I had about 6 or 7 of the whole sequence but I just felt that it looked confusing and overwhelming with all the body parts in different areas. I see what you're saying for a good bit of this, and some I disagree with. It wasn't the most action packed game so there was barely any sliding, and when they did get homeruns they just ran through them cause the ball was so far out.

Did you shoot from the stands or on the field? Press pass?

Just curious.

Haha wish I could, but that was a softball game they probably wouldn't mind if they let you down near the dugout. There's probably some way you could.

I think the pics of the pitcher would have been better if they were shot from the third base side. Why didn't you move over there for part of the game? Just curious.

Edit: #6 would have looked good if shot from the third base side and cropped close to see the batters expression.
Example below. This kid can hit the ball!

Wasn't actually sure where media was allowed to go, so I stayed fairly close to ECU's dugout. As I said this was my first game.

Please post the EXIF data or at least do not strip it from the photos. The data can tell a lot of us what is going on with the photo. Without the EXIF data I cannot tell if you are at the maximum capabilities of your gear. There is a lot of motion blur in your photos.

All of the photos need a tighter crop. If something or someone in the photo does not add to the story that is being told in the photo then crop it tighter.

#1 is a prime example. the umpire and third base player adds little or nothing to the photo. As this composite shows you have some post processing skills, use them to make the photos more dramatic.

#2 Looks like the subject might have been to far away and the crop has shown that the lens, camera or settings are not up to the crop. Needs a tighter crop which is probably not possible with this photo.

#3 Lots of things happening here either out of focus or motion blur and over exposed. Needs a tighter crop.

#4 If you want the batter then crop out the catcher. The catcher does not help tell the story.

#5 Crop tighter. Also looks like it is out of focus.

#6 Catcher is out of focus and you cannot see the batters face. Crop tighter on the batter or catcher but not both in this photo. Either one would tell the story. Not sure why but photo is not available at the present. It is bad form to remove a photo that you are requesting feedback on.

#7 Crop tighter. Try to keep the back side out of the photo.

#8 Crop tighter or take the photo from her front side.

Yeah I'll keep those in mind, I removed a few from my flickr. Obviously ignore it if I removed it. Also I apologize, I wasn't sure about posting the images from flickr I usually just get the jpg file from flickr, I recently found out about posting them with the BB code.

Thanks a lot, as I said this was my first set for softball or even baseball for that matter. I'm looking to progress even more with softball/baseball.
