Nice, that last image with them with the solar blankets... that's how I feel after running around one of those marathons with all my gear taking pictures of the event.

My wife doesn't understand that lugging 15-20lbs of gear for as many miles as I walk / setup / get ready for these guys is a bit of a workout for me. :) There have been times I just wanted a blanky as well.

Yes, it was painful to watch, some of the pain that the newbie runners were going through.

And simply astounding to see the elite group and how they made it look so easy, running sub-5-minute miles like nothing...

I watched this guy run PF Chang's half marathon in 1:02... The current world record is 00:58. I was astounded that the guy was soooo close, yet so far.

My wife is in the newbie runner's group... but she's managed to improve her half marathon times by 9 minutes in the last month... she paid for it in the downtime though. :) I love seeing the dedication these guys have... it's truly inspirational... I can't wait to start racing road bikes again.

I shot these with a 7D and a 70-200 f4 IS and a 70-200 2.8. I was trying to find a reason to keep the f4 IS with my 2.8.

The 70-200 f4 IS is my go to Marathon/Triathlon lens, I only wish my 100-400 had the same sharpness and ease of use! (Of course I'd love the 2.8 version if the weight didn't bother me)
