Chest pack?

Years ago used a chest pack which was attached via a couple straps that went over my shoulders & back under my arms. Good solution for a film A2E w/75-300 lens. Used it for cross country skiing and hiking. Quick access, didn't move much.

Searching for something similar that will hold a pro body & 70-200/2.8 for the same activities. The old one is simply too small. Not interested in anything that goes around my waist as I typically have a pack with waistbelt on: shoulder straps only. Not interested in slings or other gear that rotates around front. Needs to be in front for immediate access.

Suggestions?

TIA.

Think Tank "Change Up" might work for you.

EDIT: whoops ... sorry ... missed the "pro sized" part of your post. The Change Up will not work with a pro-sized body!

Out of all bags this is my favourite, but it will not hold a pro size / gripped 7D/5D body with 70-200 2.8 and it has a waist belt which the TS did not want.
My ungripped 7D + 100-400 barely fits in sideways when all the dividers are removed though. A 70-200 2.8 is a bit longer so will probably not fit.

My suggestion would be to use a Think Tank digital holster with the shoulder harness. I´ve used a holster 10 v2.0 with my 400D+15-85 while skiing, which worked great.
For a pro size body + 70-200 2.8 you need a holster 50. If the body is a gripped 5D/7D, I would highly recommend taking it off and using a holster 30, which is far less bulky and will probably stayin position better (I own the holster 10v2.0, 20, 30v2.0 and 50).

Clik Elite has several chest packs including this one that made to fit a pro body with a 70-200 f2.8 lens attached (external link)

Also comes in black (above one is grey) (external link)

Or if you don't want an actual pack there is the cotton carrier (external link)

Thx all for your responses.

SYS & gremlin75, both of those look like they may fit the bill. I'll have to try them on for fit/function.

Thx again.

Ben Jacobsen used to report on a Think Tank Urban Disguise 30 as a chest bag. I *think* he convertedto a mountainsmith bag, then on to others. IIRC he patrols, so his reviews have been good for me.

Ben's a big guy. He makes that bag look small!

I wish I had the KATA bag (214?) mentioned above. I have a slightly smaller one, bought before I added a grip to my dslr.

I traded a friend a Retro10 for his Speed Racer. Extremely comfortable bag; easy to work out of. Ben reports on those too. It's either/or a belt bag, or shoulder bag. So comfortable! Of course it's huge.

Years ago I used various LowePro fanny packs, but wore them in front when I was doing skiing/sports photography. Good access; comfortable.

And...LowePro has a holster pack that will work. 75AW? You can get a harness to wear it in front too. Just don't fall on the gear.

Quick update.

Ordered the black version of the Click Elite from amazon.ca. Don't know if there was a sale but much cheaper than anything stateside, got it for Cdn$49.99, about a two day backorder.

Aside from trying it on & walking around the yard, haven't given it a run on the cross country or hiking trails. Squeezing a MkIV & 70-200/2.8 into it is a very tight fit. This is good in the sense that the combo is not going to move inside the pack, but it takes some squeezing/pushing and holding your mouth just right to get the zips closed.

The straps extend from the bottom of the pack backwards towards the harness, then snap into clips extending on short straps from the harness. This makes things a bit awkward attempting to get your opposite side arm around your chest and the pack to push the male part of the clip into the female. The design would have been better served if the clips were on a short strap extending from the pack, with the bulk of the reach coming from the harness.

Further update coming once the sucka is put to use.
