There is the 35mm f2, which is a nice compact lens... much cheaper as well.

Ruled it out for the 5 bladed aperture, I have not liked the bokeh I've seen in many tests/comparisons and thats why I got the 28mm f/1.8 in the first place..

The problem is the 28mm f/1.8 is the only lens in my lineup (i think anyways) lacking a rounded aperture... and it shows

sounds like your heart is set on the 35L. It's a nice lens no doubt and you won't be disappointed;)

I'm sorry, I may have missed why you are not just picking up a 5D2 right now from the FS forum. Man, there are some really great deals out there on some nice cameras. Are you using the 7D for sports? You mention food, drinks, and the such. Sounds like a great situation for the low light capabilities of the 5d2 and the sigmalux. It really is a nice combo.

I'd have to sell my 7D + 15-85 to do so...

And I'm concerned with the focus system on the 5DII, I had a 30D before the 7D which uses a very similar system and i was never too happy about the point layout and stuff...

I dont do much wildlife stuff anymore sadly

The 35L is great.

Also, while the 5DII doesn't have a terribly stellar AF system, it does work well enough. More than good enough for static images - center point is decent enough for high-speed stuff.

Whilst I can appreciate the MFD problem of the Sigma, and see the $$ issue for the 35L or 5D2, keeping the 28 sounds a little backwards to me. If you feel you have to use F/2.8, there are zooms that are stellar sharp at F/2.8 and offer versatility to go with it.

I think this is a fair statement regarding the 5D2 AF system. I have done pretty darn good shooting skiing and kayaking with it. So I wouldn't let that stop you if you thought you might like FF. I couldn't see someone that is using their camera to make money relying on it for action stuff. If it doesn't make sense financially though, I can understand that.

BTW, I certainly can appreciate not wanting to pick up a prime that isn't pretty darn sharp all the way open. It does sort of defeat the purpose of having the prime lens. I absolutely drives me crazy that sigma does not have a 30-35 mm prime that plays with the FF body.

I'll keep that in mind, I'm considering going to see if i cant get my hands on a 5DII someplace locally and seeing if i really like one...

Though concern 2 is will i get enough from the 7D and 15-85 to get the 5DII

Also my dad wanted the 28 f/1.8 at one point, I might just sell it to him, He's not as picky as I am
