There is the 35mm f2, which is a nice compact lens... much cheaper as well.

Man, there are some really great deals out there on some nice cameras. Are you using the 7D for sports? You mention food, drinks, and the such. Sounds like a great situation for the low light capabilities of the 5d2 and the sigmalux. It really is a nice combo. Cory

If you feel you have to use F/2.8, there are zooms that are stellar sharp at F/2.8 and offer versatility to go with it.
