Why doesn't Canon give you a free camera supported by ads? The problem with ads is that 1) nobody clicks on them, and 2) the cost per click in many countries is close to 0. For example, in China, where many visitors come from, the cost per click is 2-3 cents.

I'm planning to add an option for unlimited readings from one camera after a one-time payment (more than 1.5, but still small). Frequent personal users would be able to continue using the tool as before after a negligible fee.

Sergey, thanks for developing this tool - I just used it yesterday to verify the count on a used body.

An update on this site...he is now charging $1.49 per camera count. Nothing good lasts free for ever :-(

It cost me $1.53 Canadian with Paypal's exchange rate

This option would be really nice. I have no problem with paying for such tool but not each time I wanna use it... You may also create some kind of year registration so that people can use it whenever they want during one year and pay again for it the year after.
I'll be willing to pay under these conditions (obviously, the price would be higher).

EOSCount accuracy isn't that good, anyone found anything with better accuracy?

What makes you think it isn't accurate? I found it to be right on with all the cameras I have checked.

Don't confuse shutter counts with pictures taken. I have taken 4548 pictures but I have another 2434 shutter counts because of live view.

Well there is a 600+ difference. I have more images than I have shutter count, how can that be?

Is the new paid version any more reliable? I was just going to check it again currently but I see it is pay per check now.

Which camera do you have? "Astrojargon EOS Info" is free but only works with Canon DIGIC III/IV DSLRs: 40D, 50D, XSi/450D, T1i/500D, XS/1000D, and 5D MkII.

EOSInfo and EOSCount both give me the same shutter count.....

Maybe you used a card from another camera that had a higher number of images on the card. The camera sees the image number on the card, whether from the current camera or another camera, and increases image numbers from there. Thus, if you used a card that had come from an older Canon camera with IMG_2500.JPG on the card, your new camera had a lower number of images, the new camera would start numbering from there.

There is also a LINUX program that will give shutter counts and it is free: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1058019

It's a 5DM3 so I'm not sure if it will work. I'll scout about and might give it a try if I see others have used theirs with it.

My numbers are based on the physical number of RAW images I have on my system. I had 3224 images but it is being reported as 2588 by EOSCount. I'll look at your link later, looks a bit long-winded to be that bothered with at the moment. Thanks.

Hi djames,
as far as I know, Canon counts multiple images or videos taken in one live view session as one shutter count. If you use live view extensively, this could account for the difference. In any case, you would get the same shutter count number if you send your camera to Canon.

I have tried Magic Lantern on my 2 x 50D's and the shutter count feature as part of the package, seems very accurately. http://www.magiclantern.fm/ (external link)

Used it today when someone on CL posted a 5d2 for $1000, it had 130k on the shutter. I walked away from the deal... Thx for the tool!
