Astros Fan Fest

Once a year the Astros hold a fan fest. It's an all day event that includes getting to meet and obtain autographs from current and former players, vendors with baseball related merchandise, food, games and activities for kids, tours, items for sale and more. I shot this event as a "working fan" - I was on assignment for one of Houston's alt weeklies but I'm also a huge fan of the home team. It's nice to get the chance to shoot the things you love. I shot for a couple of hours on a Saturday for a slideshow which includes more photos.

They let you out on the field? I went to the one that the Rockies have at Coors Field. It was a blast. Have a bunch of video from that.

I got to use the bullpen phones (I need one for my house so I can call and tell them what they are doing wrong lol) and I got to hit in the batting cages.

Yes. They had the grass cordoned off but all the bouncy castle things were in the infield and anyone who wanted to go down there could. The Astros dugout was also open to the public. Our Fan Fest also had batting practice that you could purchase a ticket for.
