Hello i'm new to DSLR'S and want to ask a question, I have a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS and love it for what it does. My question is, I want to get into a good starter DSLR and wonder if a Canon - EOS Digital Rebel T3 would be a good starter DSLR?...thanks

Welcome to POTN.

The Rebel is a real DSLR so, yes, it is more than a good start.

Welcome to POTN, and yes - the T3 is a fine starter DSLR.

the t3 is the bottom line camera, now that's not to say it isn't perfectly capable. you may however find yourself more satisfied with a t2i. the t2i, t3i, 60D, 7D all share the same image sensor which is a step up from the t3. they only differ in what features they offer and the body style they come in.

if price is a huge price constraint, the t3 will perform admirably. but if you have a bit of wiggle room the t2i will most likely give you the best bang for your dollar.

Yes, that would be a very good camera.

Don't know your budget, but woot.com has the Canon EOS Rebel XS 10.1MP SLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm for $399 today + $5 shipping.
