Ok, the search button above does not work my iPhone.

Can the Einstein do high speed sync via the pocket wizard mini tt1 (or 5) and the power MC2 with the canon 5D II. If so what kind of sync speeds are you getting?

None of the studio strobes can do HSS. What some of them can do is hypersync. It still gets you higher sync speeds by using the tail burn of the flash. The short duration of the Einstein and the 1/200 native sync speed of the 5DII work against this combo.

What triggers are you using? I can get 1/200 with cybersync's no problem.

Using the 5DMII in combination with the MC2 I get 1/1000s on the Einstein but when I use my 7D with MC2 I get 1/2000s.

Can you get better sync speeds if you drop the power on the Einsteins (they have a shorter flash duration at lower power settings)?

My testing of the Skyports seemed to indicate they induce a slightly longer delay than PocketWizards or Cybersyncs, but it shouldn't require shutter speeds slower than X-sync unless you're dealing with a particularly long flash duration.

It's because of the big slow FF curtain on the 5D. It's fairly common....Zach Arias mentioned it in his first creativelive workshop. Kacey's 5D also has this problem. Same problem happens w/ different triggers (Arias uses the original PW, not the TT, some people have the issue w/ Cybersyncs which are faster than the PW). If you found out when you bought the 5D, you should have exchanged it because not all are that slow...

We're not talking about the PW TT's Hypersync, of course. If you're using the Hypersync hack (and you need the PW TT to do it), you want the longest pulse you can get, so fire the Einstein at full power.

p.s., oddly enough, Nikon's FF D700 doesn't have that sync problem...
