Arranged marriages are nuts.

My Dad lived here in Ontario, Mom was living on Thetis Island, BC. They met through mutual friends.

Yeah, when I was growing up my parents did ask me I I wanted one. I declined. Although it is a decent backup plan ;)

Could always get a dowry too ;)

.

I work with many who got married via an arranged marriage. All in all they seem happeir and few have divorced. I can't say the same with my US friends.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

My wife was my room mates blind date. He got too drunk and i ended up driving her home. Asked her out and here we are, 38 years later and still going out. :) I wasn't even 18 when we met.

My friend's parent's marriage was arranged. They did somewhat know each other before they got married at least. I know a lot of the marriages work out well, but I can only imagine what life would be like being married to someone you just really do not love or like, and having both families expect that you have a happy life together.

In general it seems like marriage has become a sham. People just don't respect it for what it is anymore.

For some this is surely true. Look at the joke Kardashian made of the whole thing. But I still think many take it seriously, or at least I hope so.

Many still do take it seriously... my brother is getting married in 14 days. My parents held to the "till death do us part".

But there are soooo many that have the "let's give it a shot but if it doesn't work out who cares" mentality.

Well, I met my wife at university. Parents didn't really approve of the relationship. So we eloped a year later, which really pissed them off. We will have been married 9 years this year. Everyone is a happy bunny :)

My dad's parents met in a bar. He lived in the U.S. She came over here to try to find her father, who jumped ship and went AWOL from the Belgian Navy. Her visa was about to expire, which meant she would have to return to Belgium soon, and she was crying over a beer in the bar. She wanted to stay in the U.S. and keep looking for her father. So, my grandpa told her "What the hell, I'll marry ya so you can stay."

It was a match made in heaven... They were married almost 50 years and had six children. My grandmother never did find her father. Nobody knows what happened to him.

You have more colour than we do so far. Grass is green and growing nicely here, leaves are just starting to grow. So we have a lot of grey and brown still.

The cherry and dogwood trees here are all in full bloom. That's usually the only color we get in the spring, other than the poppy fields, and from what I've heard there's nothing going on out there this year, since we had so little rain. I was thinking of heading out that way tomorrow to check it out anyway, but, surprise! It's going to be raining all day...
