Brings flowers but also brings a nasty fire season...

We don't really get fire season here in Illinois.. But then I'm a short timer. Woohoo. 3 more months and I get to leave this insane asylum.

winter was 2 weeks long
spring may be 3 weeks
then 5 months of 100+

And I'm Texas bound just in time for the heat. And I just bought a black car. :(

We have had a couple of semi-significant fires already this season. There are a number of extra hotshot crews and aviation units here until we get some rain. Lots of National Park and National Forest land here....some serious concerns about the safety of GSMNP.

There's a particularly nasty one in the Denver area right now. Out here, our worst fire seasons usually follow especially wet winters, which was not the case this year. Hopefully we won't have too big of a problem.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I'm surprised they haven't pulled some crews here to head for Denver. These guys (external link) are here doing controlled burns in the park to try to lessen the danger.

Get the windows tinted. I live in the desert and I have a black car. It doesn't get hot inside.

So, I was out shooting with my crappy 5D3 and took a shot at ISO 102,400 with the lens cap on. Damn picture was noisy. I've been completely screwed by Canon.

And the parade of fools marches on.

Not that much. The Dallas area and Chicago look very similar. Both are hot in the summer, TX being hotter but the big change will be TX in the winter. (Although maybe not this winter). I use to work down there so am familiar with the area but my wife has never been so it will be all new to her.
