Yes, it doesn't get a lot of talk these days with the 100's and the EF-S60, but it's the lens I reach for when I shooting my watches. The shorter length is good for light tent work. Just happened to be on the camera Sunday morning and I though why not!

Another solid case for Indian over Arrow!

I was just thinking that I haven't much touched a focal length shorter than 300mm in forever. I need to go bust out the 17-40mm and find something expansive!

On my recent western trip I didn't go any wider than 24 (24-105) although I had the 10-22 with me.

I just got back from my bike ride in the dark. I decided to ride the cart path around the golf course here. It was kinda' fun, with lots of little ups and downs, and whoop-dee-doos. You can't build up any speed, so it took a while, but it was fun anyway. The actual cart path is only about two miles, but it's about a mile to get to it, and about two miles back from where it ends at the clubhouse. So I got my 5 miles in, but it was pretty leisurely.

Nice ride Chief. You had some variations to mix it up :)

Riding the roads here involves taking your life in your hands. The best non-interstate roads here couldn't pass for a town maintained road in NY. I had so much fun up there last fall.....you could actually ride without wondering if your next breath would be your last.

 No organized rides in the area?

My photograph of airshow performer Kirby Chambliss at Oskosh graces the cover of the current issue of this online aviation publication.

Congrats Jay. Way to go.

Lots of them....but we are talking rides on a level the average cyclist isn't going to complete. We have the Assault on Mount Mitchell.....over 4500' of elevation change....100 miles.

As for organized training rides....they are held on a regular basis.....but they are geared for ultra-serious riders. Weekend warriors are at a distinct disadvantage. George Hincapie trains here....as do lots of other TdF aspirants.

There is currently a plan in motion to establish a more cyclist friendly route along the river. The current route isn't a bad ride, but it is heavily traveled, mainly by large trucks heading in and out of the landfill. The road is so narrow that the trucks have to slow to safely negotiate head to head meetings. We have cyclists dinged by cars on a daily basis. Takes a lot of fun out of the ride when you are in fear for your life at every turn.

That is unfortunate they dont have everyday routes available :( Hmm The Assault on Mount Mitchell has me intrigued! :D

Interesting if you have lots of TDF riders training there then your hills must be excellent! :D

I dont blame you for not wanting a death wish on that road  I have had a truck pass me within 1 foot  If that doesnt send shivers up your spine i dont know what will

I had the front tire blow out on my on my motorcycle while next to a truck on a busy Chicago expressway. It scared the carp out of me.

We don't have hills....we have mountains. We have plenty of places to train at mile high or better. The air is definitely different as you go up. Base elevation here is 2000'. Everything else is up.
