I read somewhere that they aren't actually screaming. That's the sound of steam escaping under the shell.
Makes sense but it sure sounded like a scream.

(Pre-9-11 when you could actually take things onto the airplane. ) My wife had a hard time cooking them because she claimed that they screamed when put into the pot. Well, I dunked in the next one and after a little banging around sure enough, heard a sound that sounded like a scream. They still tasted so good though. You'd scream too if you were dunked into a pot of boiling water. Your supposed to fill the pot with cold water, put the lobster in, and then heat the water. The change in temperature is slow enough that the lobster doesn't notice until it's cooked. Melody

I had heard that that makes the lobster either overcooked or mushy. I have always brought the pot to a full boil with all the spices in there, then dunked the poor guy in and boil for about 10~20 minutes depending on the size of the critter. It comes out perfect but they do bang around a bit and scream. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I just banked the coals on one side and put the critters on the other side and cooked with a more indirect heat. After about 5 minutes I flipped it and moved it closer to the coals. So good. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

We used to eat at a Red Lobster when we lived in the Bay Area, and their food was usually pretty good. We had really been looking forward to this place opening. Otherwise, I would never wait that long for a table in a restaurant. I'm seriously doubting we'll ever go back. Sad. I suspect this of you, Chief:

It was such a departure from real life for him. He is the personification of Hollywood 'cool', and he really nailed the nerd role pretty well. Overall, though, the movie was pretty forgettable. That's why I had to look up the title. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
