A friendly reminder..... :)

Just noticed more and more new posts slipping to page 5 and 6 with HIGH view rate but ZERO reply. Some of them the OP even said "C&C welcome"! I'm not saying everyone MUST reply to every thread that they viewed, but it would be nice and encouraging for the OP, especially when the person wanted to improve on bird photography.

Remember, it is NOT a 1-way street. Please consider the love that you get, how much love you have given back. No doubt we have a very friendly community here when comparing to other subforums on POTN. Let's keep at it.

Please take the time to comment on some posts BEFORE you post your new pics of the day. Bump the zero comment posts up to the top again and offer a comment, suggestion, or a bit of encouragement. Put yourself in the other person's shoes and remember how your first pics looked or the anticipation you felt with your first posts... it's important that we acknowledge and encourage each other, otherwise, there's no reason for anyone to post.

If everyone gets in the habit of doing this, soon there won't be any page 3-4 zero comment posts!! A few kind words, sharing the experience, and helpful suggestions can go a really long way. Show me the love, people... show me the love!

I usually try to reply to 4-5 threads for every 1 thread I start. Seems to be a good ratio.

Hear hear, Fee. I couldn't agree more. I had a nice little message in my sig for a while until someone who does participate misunderstood and I removed the message from my sig again.

Excellent post, Fee!! Let's hope that some of those who use the forum as a dumping site for their images but never leave a comment with anybody else, will read it too...

I need to reply more -- but problem is that when it is a workday -- I am viewing from work -- I am very afraid our "internet gods" will cut off one of the few great sites I can get to, if I do too much activity here. As it is, I can't see very many of the posted photos! I can only get mostly text.
I guess if they do that -- I will show them -- I'll retire!!

What goes around comes around ...as the saying goes. There are also some ( not alot ) who don't like or cant handle a little criticism. Thats what makes a photographer better in my opinion. I applaud you Fee for bringing this up.

I agree, I'm just getting back into things and i'll be commenting more all around the forum. Commenting on a forum is like good karma.

I know I am guilty of this myself and thanks for the reminder.

I remember when I first joined and liked reading the input others had on my photography and I feel it helped me grow as a photographer. Every little bit helps....

Yes Fee, this is an important reminder for all of us.
I feel fortunate to have recieved the support of the "frequenters" of this section and it is very nice to recieve advice that helps one improve their photographic abilities. To me, it is of equal importance to acknowledge the help/advice one gets too, and hopefully this will continue at the high level I've observed in my time here. I truly believe that the forum interactions will continue to be strong with the contributions of both sides of the equation.
Also, keep reminding yourself too how quickly this forum moves and check on threads started over the last day or 2 which can easily run into pages 7-10! Wow, we have a lot of contributors!

I do my level best to post in other folks threads and to reply to those who comment on mine. How could I expect anyone to post in one of my threads if I didn't? My problem of late is not dropping by to comment when I have no new photos to share.
