I just recently received a 50L and it is an awesome lens. I have it at -7 for the best focus, but the question is how sharp should it be at 1.2? Can anyone post thier sharp shots at 1.2 and 2.8. I am having a hard time figuring out if it is normal or if it is misfocusing. I know it isn't going to be 85L sharp, but it seems a little off and since I have only been learing the in's and out's of this lens for about 2 weeks now I am not sure what normal is supposed to be.

i just got the 1.2 as well mine is super super sharp even at 1.2 but the DOF is so razor thin that you have to be quite a distance away to get all of what your focusing on in focus. if your shooting within 15 feet of something, your gotta be at least at an f/2. its its a beautiful lens all around but a pain in the but to get to learn its limits

I did but after searching through many many pages I wanted to see if someone has taken something that is measurable. Maybe like eyelashes or something similar and I wanted to see a 1.2 and 2.8 comparison.

I have used 2 of them and both where pretty decent at 1.2. I do notice I get much sharper results at 1.6 but with good light you can do pretty well wide open

On this link the first 5 or 6 ( all the people shots ) are at 1.2. and most all of them are at 2.0 or larger

Great comparison. I will play with it for a while and then decide if it needs to go to canon
