Made it out to the park today and managed to catch this guy, took a bit of fooling around to get the shutter speed right. I lucked out with this, only a few of ~60 in flight shots turned out well.

Ah
the Canada Goose.
Classic!
nice mallards too.
is that last one a Muscovy?

also, If i could try to help you with your BIF shots.
I see your settings are 1/500 @ f8
you could try 1/1000th @f7.1.
That is usually an easier way to get BIF when the light isnt great.
your T2i will do well up to ISO 1600 as you have already seen I think.

It looks like you're off to a great start w/your IF shots Allan. Absolutely nothing wrong with #1 in my book; and now you've learned what went right so more to come we hope.
The Mallards are gorgeous. I especially like the drake struttin' his stuff in #3.

Thanks everyone!! I was actually shooting a bird sitting still in AV mode so I wasn't really prepared, next time i'll use manual or Tv to keep the SS up there.

You are off to a good start Allan. Keep practicing and you'll see the keeper rate goes up fast. :)

I'd be very pleased with the BIF especially being a first...heck, even my last one. Excellent detail and I like the placement of the Goose in the frame.
