Your adapter arrived yesterday, and I just received a 6'-12' Wooster Sherlock painter's pole that is made of fiberglass. They go together very nicely!

However, even with the Wooster fiberglass pole, there's a warning label that states: "Hazard of Electrical Shock or Burn: This extension pole is NOT to be used ON or NEAR electrical wiring of any type. Keep at least 10 feet away from any power lines."

So, apparently, it's not just the lightning that we have to worry about!

That's true. Every pole has that precaution sticker even the fiberglass ones. Fiberglass ladders also have a precaution sticker for liability reasons and you should always follow the manufacturers instructions.

Using a fiberglass/synthetic pole or ladder is much safer than using one made of metal to reduce the liability of a accident caused by electrical shock. I use a fiberglass pole that has a 6ft non-conductive shaft and let it rest on the ground as much as possible. Not only to reduce all the holding weight and make it comfortable to use but electricity also follows the path of least resistance to ground :-o
