This distillery is just a short drive from my house and I have been wanting to pay it a visit for years. Well, last weekend my brother and I finally got around to going to have a look. It is situated behind a row of houses and you have to drive down their driveway to get there. We started early and didn't have any problems with anyone. Sadly, they have begun tearing down the aging warehouse, it was built with a ton of oak lumber and I hope they are demolishing it to reclaim the wood.

This distillery started in 1889 and operated until the 1960's. It changed hands a few times but always kept the Dowling name. There is little history available on the place and I have never seen a bottle of their works (I go to the Bourbon Festival often where they always have an auction of rare and limited availability bottles). I hope you enjoy the set, there are more on my Flickr page.

You definitely did justice to the old place. Good job.

I hope you're right, and they are reclaiming that wood. Such a waste otherwise.

It certainly looks like an interesting place. I am surprised it has taken you so long to get there. I am with you, I hope the wood is recycled and put to good use, it is such a shame to see old timbers like that just go to waste.

They are reclaiming the wood. reclaimlumber.com is turning it into flooring. Its all heart pine and oak. Nice pics. I was by there the other day and some of those buildings were gone.

Nice pics and well done! I enjoy these scenes of decay, sadly. I guess I'm awaiting the Phoenix to rise from the ashes someday.. . . . Thanks very much for sharing. True HDR in the field on some or did you do the plus-minus merge in 'Shop ?
