Heck yea, me too! They are nuts!

Now what head are you planning on putting on this beast? I highly recommend the Markins Q20.

Oh the M10 is def just as good and really for other than a better look and size fitment there is no reason to upgrade to the M20 unless you are going to be using a 600L or something. But if you were going to do that Id have said you should have gone with a 5-series!

Congrats Chris! I'll have to go back to FM and take a look at what I wrote that was so persuasive. ;) Like Ben, I'm really happy with mine - it's just so solid and stable. And the folded size at 21.6 has me taking it on my next trip instead of my travel tripod!

You'll find the Q10 will sit on top OK and not look too out of place. When I got mine I used my Linhof Profi II as a stand-in while I dithered over a new ballhead. The Linhof is about the same size as your Markins. My ballhead choice was between an Arca-Swiss Z1 and a Markins Q20 and I chose the Z1. Love it! :D

Thanks Peter! You pretty much said "it's just so solid and stable" :D Folding down to 21.6 is awesome! It's so much shorter, folded, than my 1227! Hmmmm....maybe I'll take the 3541LS instead of the 1128 on our trip to Peru :D The Z1 is my dream BH but I can't . My wife will flip out if she knew how much one of those cost! M20 will have to do. Will have to sneak it into the house :D

Gitzo also have very nice bags for your tripod. What ballhead do you have for your tripod? I use the BH 55 from RRS. It's a very nice combo.

Actually all the Gitzo bags are too long for this tripod even with a head on it unfortunately.

I have Gitzo's series 2 bag for my 1227. I like it a lot but it's, series 3 version, too long. I want something that will fit close to the size of the tripod. I wouldn't mind if the bag only fit the legs. I usually take the BH off when traveling, flying that is. For now I'm going to use a M10 BH. Would like to upgrade to a M20 one day.
