Unfortunately, the graphic shows a body with an inbuilt grip - hopefully, it's just a placeholder for a gripless body.

If this is true (and it wouldn't surprise me if Canon decided to leak it in a roundabout manner, in the wake of the D800 announcement) I wonder what features it would have.

Would it be a 'studio' camera in the same vein as the 5D2 (high-resolution sensor and not much else) or a body that's truly competitive with the D800, with pro AF, weather sealing and other features ideal for an on-location advertising shoot on the beach, with moving models, sea spray and wind-blown sand?

If the price point is significantly higher than the 5Dx (which I would expect it to be) it had better have significantly better features than the D800, including an AA-free model. Maybe a 1/500s sync speed, to make it easier to overpower the sun?

Maybe this will be the true successor to the 1Ds3?

I'm interested, especially if it comes as a compact body.

I don't want to lug around monster sized cameras. My shoulder bag is already heavy enough as it is.

Also, coming 6-9 months after the D800, and costing more, the specs better be spectacular.

Hmmm... it better perform great or be priced great because the D800 is just around the corner.

If it's due for announcement at Photokina, I can't see it being available before November-December.

Also, I can't see a 3D being priced any less than a 5D - more likely around the $4500 mark.

It'll need to significantly outperform the D800 to justify the cost. In other words, medium-format IQ.

Don't be so certain.

The rumored specs of the upcoming 5D2 (or 5D X) are kinda far away from matching the D800, but still it is set (or rumored) to be more expensive.

It is hard to know how Canon thinks.

That graphic is an old product of wishful thinking, at least a couple of years.

Good - I wouldn't want an inbuilt grip.

Looks like the rumoured specs are new, though. It wouldn't surprise me if Canon decided to leak a little bit of information at this time, since the post came just after the official announcement of the D800.

I've been reading up on this "fantasy camera" today.

Yes, it is indeed based on wishful thinking. Very wide spread and burning wishful thinking among Canon users.

Canon should make this camera if they know what is good for them. It would earn them a shipload of money and make lots of Canoneers happy.

So, it's also going to have eye control?

Did anyone else notice the EF 40mm F/1.2L lens on the picture of the supposed 3D?

Anyone dumb enough to do that deserves to be parted from their money.
