Reading his post almost made it seems like they were trying to weave us onto another forum or something. Maybe it was just me?

Yes, it was just you.

So am I supposed to go to the Sony thread for Vegas Pro, too? That's fine that you're suggesting other sites, but some Canon users use these programs, too. Not all Vegas Pro and Premiere Pro users use Canon dSLR cameras.

Just my .02

No- and I would hope you didn't think that is what I meant.

There are very few commonly encountered applications as particular, and as demanding on a computer, as Premiere Pro (unlike Vegas, Photoshop, LR, DPP which run on just about anything). Building or buying an inadequate PPro editing machine is very easy, painfully common, incredibly frustrating, disturbingly expensive- and easily avoided.

While POTN is an incredible resource for Canon digital photography in general, can you honestly say it is at the level of some other easily accessible forums for DSLR videography, computer or editing knowledge? Do you frequent Adobe, or Cinema5d, or Philip Bloom, or nofilmschool etc, etc?

The Adobe hardware forum is as full of people who spend as much time and effort delving into the minutiae of computers and PPro, as POTN is of people exploring the intricacies of Canon's 70-200s or 85s. And when users at Adobe foruma ask what Canon camera to get, I don't indulge in long pointless discussions with less than expert posters: I send them here, and hope that others reading the thread follow them.

I'm new to video editing but doings some short clips on my Dual i7 13" macbook pro seems to work pretty well.
