I ran across this in the Canon 7d owners manual, but so far I've been unable to find the "image quality button" button on my 7d. The icon doesn't look familiar
Is it supposed to even be a button?
Help me understand this please.

page 58 shows you what you want, it's not a button but a quality setting you'll see for raw, jpeg, raw + jpeg. lots of us here shoot in raw, read up on them and you'll have to decide which one you want to use.

I do shoot in raw exclusively, but was reading about the various custom settings on page 220 and ran across this. The icon didn't look familiar and I wondered if they meant it represented a button.
Thanks for the reply.

What you are looking at on page 220 is information about reassigning the camera's controls to function the way you want.

Press the 'Q' button on the back of the camera to bring up the quick control screen. Use the joystick to highlight the lower right icon. Press 'Set'. Scroll to the 'SET' button assignment and press 'Set'. Now you can assign the 'SET' button to do nothing, bring up the quality settings window (that icon you don't recognize), picture styles menu, regular menu, replay, or the quick control screen.
