Hello guys, I have a pressy simple question (for you anyways) I really don't know if this is a way to learn or not but here it goes:

I have a single flash yn 468 I hardly ever use it, maybe just a little for indoor family events bounced.

I am planning to buy an AB400 but really want to learn first to control the light indoors as well as indoors.

with my flash, I would like to learn a bit before buying the alienbees.

here is what I would use for shots

50d
17-50 sigma 2.8 OS
70-200 sigma 2.8 OS
yongnuo 468 flash

I need triggers, stands etc. What to get? I really don't want to spend money (the less the better) something that could last at least for the learning period or maybe a bit more that I can use once I decide to get the AB.

mainly will be used for simple portraits, a single model to start. I have several ladies and children already in line to do this. The reason I want only one light sourse to start with, is to push me to be creative, might expand in the future.

any suggestions will really help since I have no idea where to start, I really don't want to get something that I will regret. keep it cheap guys basic, background is not needed at the time so I want to get the whole setup for the light source at the time for indoors and outdoors

Sure, grab the 603's if you would rather have them.

questionmarc....I prefer a larger convertible umbrella that can either be a shoot through or bounce with the removable cover and heavier stand. But yeah, that would be a good kit to start with.

oh yea most definitely - i dont use mine - they are actually 36" umbrellas - but the 2 lightstands a bag and 2 brackets is a pretty good deal even though he only wants one flash he might get another down the road or he can use one to hold a reflector etcetc

I recently got this setup. The stand seems pretty strong and extends to 10' and the umbrella is 45" convertable. About $46 for the kit, and I also got a 5 in 1 reflector kit for $10 to help until I get a second flash.

Don't forget this kit.

Another 1+ for the rf602s or 603's. If you want portability, pick up a couple of YN560s.

I'm also looking at Abees and Elins but I have a similar system as described above and now a have a quick grab-n-go "strobist" system that I'll never get rid of, even after I get a full Bee/elin system.

interfit is a bit cheaper since it comes with a case =D

i still have one of the lightstand + bracket combo - super lightweight and can hold a decent amount of weight - a little shaky with my einstein and 22inch bd but nothing a few sandbags cant fix.

I did notice that some of the kits have smaller umbrellas, with my flash would a 45 be ok?
